Historical Impact

Windows 95's teal desktop, Start button, and 3D beveled window chrome (1995–1998) paralleled the web's table-based layouts. Most early web authors learned HTML on Win95 PCs running Netscape — the OS shell and the browser together framed the grassroots publishing explosion.
