Duolingo — Soft 3D Character & Clay UI
Caption
Rounded mascots and inflated UI chips that feel moulded, not drawn flat.
Historical Impact
Duolingo’s contemporary product language pairs soft-lit 3D character illustration with heavily rounded clay-like UI surfaces. The fill stays distinct from the page, the corners balloon, and the shadows describe volume — the correction to neumorphism’s same-material extrusion, shipped at consumer scale.
